Future Home Technology, Inc. (FHT) Building and Product trends in 2010

The following 2010 building and product trends are noted for home owners that will be helpful in building your Future Home Technology, Inc. new custom modular home:

For ranches and capes; an upgrade of 8 foot 6 inch ceilings and crown molding has become a product trend along with crown archways over windows. However, the overall size of homes is being reduced especially in higher tax assement areas where new owners desire to live in energy efficient homes with smart options but control there real estate tax and utility bills.

Exterior window treatments such as window mantles or solid 1 by 4 MDF treatment has become a desired option.

FHT standard laminated tops with beveled edging are being desired replacing wood trim on these tops.

Higher end Anderson windows such as tilt wash 400 series with full divided light or tilt wash 200 series fine light compared to standard FHT Narrow line series.

Mirrors being installed by FHT in bathrooms (standard specifications) have been received very well in 2010.

Merillat cabinetry with upgrades to maples and cherry compared to our standard oak cabinetry is a desirable upgrade.

FHT standard Interior hardware and lighting is predominately satin nickel compared with bronze.

FHT exterior vinyl new colors consisting of buckskin and swade are selling well; and the upgraded package to monogram with cedar impressions has become popular.

Delta faucets where FHT is selling the upgrades consisting of Lahara and Leland packages which provide trending décor of oil rob bronze and satin nickel.

FHT standard one piece cultured marble tops that include sinks with upgrades to granite colors remain quite popular in bathrooms; also the Merillat DeNova real granite tops are becoming popular to homeowners.

CAT 5 wiring, wiring for alarms, and speaker wiring are all desirable upgrades by new home owners.

For custom design and structure the trend is as follows:

Homes have more rig lines including bump outs, dormers, bonus areas and hip roofs; however overall housing size is usually smaller. In addition, FHT will customize homes where elaborate roof areas are panelized or shipped loose and assembled on site to maximize ranch first floor sized to 9 feet and provide spectacular hip roof features and contrasting roof pitches.

Large vaults are not nearly as popular; smaller vaults with additional useable room size have become more advantageous with home owners looking to conserve energy with smaller homes and provide additional livable space. For capes, a shed dormer is an option creating additional second floor space.

Larger ranches are in demand with living space all on one floor and full basement build outs. For older couples, ranches are being purchased and down sized compared to their previous large colonials.

FHT has also been building unique or commercial projects such as Police stations, handicapped group homes, office buildings; spa’s and club houses along with high end modular additions to existing homes.
